Cayman Islands Registry
The Cayman Islands ship registry, a Red Ensign Group Category 1 member able to register yachts of unlimited size. The most common flag at the large end of the superyacht fleet.
The registry is administered by the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands from George Town, with survey and client offices in Europe. As a Category 1 Red Ensign Group member it applies MCA-equivalent standards, which is what port-state control officers and marine lenders respond to; mortgages register under an English-law framework, and provisional registration is available ahead of full registration. The Yacht Engaged in Trade programme allows a private yacht of 24 metres or more to charter for up to 84 days per calendar year without converting to full commercial registration.
